Hearst To Gain Improved High Speed Internet Access

The town of Hearst will be gaining an improved access to high speed internet.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation will provide funding of $1.3 million to the town through their Strategic Economic Infrastructure Program.

Mayor Roger Sigouin says a fiber optic network will be installed to boost internet speeds across the region.

Sigouin says the improved access will benefit the community in many ways.

He says in the past the service was costly and limited.

Sigouin also asks for patience though, as the project is expected to take three years to be completed.

This funding is part of more than $34 million that the NOHFC has invested in the Timmins-James Bay region since 2013.
