NewsNDP Mostly Pleased With Revamped Police Regulations SHARE ON: Nick Birnie, contributor, Wednesday, Mar. 14th, 2018The NDP are pleased with the provincial government’s decision to recondition police regulations, as long as public safety remains public.The Liberal provincial government passed a bill last week to strengthen law enforcement by redefining officer’s duties.Timmins-James Bay NDP MPP and House Leader Gilles Bisson says Kathleen Wynne’s decision is supported, as long as she is willing to make public safety the duty of public employees.Bisson says the NDP believe that public safety needs to be contracted out to public employees and that policing for private sector security firms should also be contracted out.The Police Association of Ontario’s statement regarding the bill says that the government has failed to act in the best interest of the public and police.
