DSB ONE To Create Student Senate By April

Students at high schools all throughout the District School Board Ontario North East will have Senate representation by next month.

This Tuesday the Board of Trustees passed a by-law to establish a Student Senate Constitution to then select a Student Senate within the Board.

Student Trustee Aiza Asif of Iroquois Falls Secondary School says the senate will allow students to voice concerns and opinions and is about improving the student experience through equity and unity.

Student Trustee from Kirkland Lake District Composite School Brianna Julien says they felt it important to include and Indigenous student voice within the senate, and have created two positions for exactly that.
