The Cochrane Winter Carnival wrapped up ten days’ worth of fun and excitement by putting to use their new Commando Lake Pavilion for the first time.
Mayor Peter Politis was on hand at the closing ceremonies earlier this week and spoke of the pride involved in the new venue, and how excited the town was to put it to use at its very first event.
Politis says the stage is a world class stage that has all the amenities needed for world class bands and performances.
He says the winter carnival gave people a chance to finally enjoy the stage for the first time, and now the community knows they have no excuses as to not get out and enjoy.
Carnival Chairman Darryl Owens says he would like to thank everyone who came out during the carnival and also on the closing night’s festivities.
Owens says he hopes they can make the new pavilion a true community centre.
