District School Board Ontario North East Chair Bob Brush feels Northerners deserve more input when it comes to student transportation in Ontario.
Brush wants to draw more focus to the Ministry of Education’s discussion paper released in December, titled ‘A New Vision for Student Transportation’.
Brush says the paper supports a more thorough review of student transportation services within the province.
He says transportation options are not equal across Ontario, he feels the North has a unique set of circumstances compared to larger Southern cities due to the weather and road conditions.
Brush says Northern Ontarians need a level playing field with the rest of the province, and he feels it is the Ministry that needs to review the funding formula in order to finally deliver safe student transportation for an affordable price for Northerners.
