Collision Puts Kapuskasing Man In Critical Condition

A collision along Highway 8 in Sebringville has put a Kapuskasing man in hospital fighting for his life.

A collision between a tractor-trailer and an SUV on Wednesday, January 17th sent Kapuskasing resident Butch Douglas to hospital in critical condition.

Douglas’ brother-in-law Mike McGaw spoke to Moose News and says Douglas had three dogs with him on the trip, the purpose of which was a visit to a veterinary service in London.

McGaw says Douglas had begun his way back towards Kapuskasing when the incident occured, during which all of the dogs got loose, and one named Zeus managed to stay missing for over two days before finally being located.

McGaw says Zeus and the other two dogs are currently safe and sound in the care of the Stratford-Humane society.

However, McGaw says Douglas is still in critical condition after suffering major head trauma, and currently he is on assisted breathing support while being treated at Victoria Hospital in London.

He says Douglas has yet to regain consciousness since the accident.
