(NHL)  The Montreal Canadiens ended the Colorado Avalanche’s ten-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory last night. Elsewhere the St. Louis Blues blanked the Ottawa Senators 3-0, the Buffalo Sabres crushed the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 and the Vancouver Canucks skated to a 6-2 win over LA.

(NBA)  The Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry will be joining team mate DeMar DeRozan at the NBA All Star game. Lowry has been named an all-star reserve by Eastern Conference head coaches.  It’s  the fourth time in his 12-year career that he has been to the All Star game.

(Tennis)  Hyeon Chung beat Tennys Sandgren to advance to the semi-finals at the Australian Open earlier today. The No. 58-ranked Chung is the lowest-ranked man to reach the Australian Open semifinals since 2004. On the women’s side Simona Halep advanced  over Karolina Pliskova and set up a semifinal match against 2016 champion Angelique Kerber, who beat U.S. Open finalist Madison Keys.
