Township of Opasatika And Val-Rita Harty Continuing Push For Grocer

The push for a grocery store in the township of Opasatika and Val Rita-Harty has had a few bumps in the road, but continues forward.

That’s according to Township of Opasatika and Val Rita-Harty Economic Development Officer Alain Robichaud, who says the market study done over the summer revealed an interest from residents to contribute.

Robichaud says council was pleased with the community’s interest in the grocery store co-op project, enough so to fund a feasibility study.

However, Robichaud says the townships push on social media has not gotten as good a response when it came to creating an action committee.

He says the township is still trying to form the action development committee group in order to aid in development of the project.

Currently, the township is looking at a former school as possible grounds to build the new grocery store upon.
