(NBA)  The Philadelphia 76’ers ran to a 117-111 win over the Toronto Raptors yesterday. DeMar Derozan led Toronto with 24 points

(NHL)   The New York Islanders beat the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in overtime last night despite being outshot 56-24 by the Canadiens. In other action Dallas edged Boston 3-2 in OT, Colorado got past Anaheim 3-1 and San Jose skated to a 4-1 victory over LA.

(Tennis)  Eugenie Bouchard beat Oceane Dodin in straight sets to advance to the second round of the Australian Open. It’s Bouchard’s first victory of the season. On the men’s side Canada’s Milos Raonic has been eliminated in the first round after losing to unseeded Lukas Lacko in four sets.

(MLB)  The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free-agent outfielder Curtis Granderson to a one-year, $5 million deal. The 36-year-old split last season with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, in 147 combined games he hit 26 homers and drove in 64 RBIs with a .212 average.
