NewsWeather Extreme Cold Warning Issued SHARE ON: Nick Birnie, staff Friday, Jan. 12th, 2018 Photo: Supplied An extreme cold warning has been given for the Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Hearst communities. Environment Canada is saying that wind chill values near or below minus 40 are expected overnight Friday into Saturday morning. The weather agency says the wind chill is expected to lessen during the afternoon Saturday, before once again falling into the near minus 40 range overnight into Sunday. Environment Canada says the extreme cold puts everyone at risk, so they ask that you cover up all skin as anything exposed can develop frostbite within minutes. The agency also asks that you check up on older family members, friends and neighbours if possible.
