The OPP is sending out a warning to all members of the Hearst, Cochrane, and Kapuskasing communities to drive with caution during the winter.

During the time between Thursday, January 4th and Sunday, January 7th members of the James Bay Detachment responded to 16 different collisions with one resulting in minor injuries.

Officers say Highway 11 was closed for several hours due to poor weather conditions between Hearst and Cochrane over the weekend but also to safely remove vehicles from the ditch.

Police are reminding those traveling along the highways to double check road conditions by calling 511 or visiting the MTO website.

The OPP is also reminding motorists to drive with extreme caution on the highways during the winter months.
