Extreme Cold Warning Continues

An extreme cold weather warning is still in effect throughout the Cochrane District.

Environment Canada says in Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Hearst the wind chill temperatures reached near or below minus 40 early Thursday and will stay steady between minus 30 and 35 the rest of the day.

The weather agency also says late Thursday you can expect temperatures dropping between minus 40 and 45 into Friday morning.

They are also reporting these same extreme temperatures are to be expected all day Friday and Saturday.

Environment Canada says to dress in layers, keep dry in order to stay warm and avoid exposing skin if possible.

The weather agency says these extreme cold warnings are only issued when there is an elevated risk to health due to the temperature.
