An Iroquois Falls grocer will now be the first official outlet for a Northern Ontario made cheese.

Seguin’s Valu-Mart in Iroquois Falls as of tomorrow will be the first grocer to carry Abitibi Chevre cheese, a product of O’Clay Inc., whose cheese is made in Kapuskasing at Fromagerie Kapuskoise.

Mayor of Iroquois Falls Michael Shea says the economic development strategy that the town has built sees agriculture as a way to foster and support growth.

CEO of O’Clay Inc Justin Veldman says they hope to continue working with their partners in northeastern Ontario to grow agriculture locally in towns like Iroquois Falls.

Seguin’s Valu-Mart Owner Gilbert Seguin says the store is very pleased to become the first official outlet for the Northern Ontario grown product, bringing local food to the community.

Abitibi Chevre cheese will officially be available for purchase at Seguin’s Valu-Mart on Thursday, December 14th beginning at 10:00am.
