Operation Safe Trucking Week is underway in the region.
The OPP will be focusing on enforcing the rules of the road for commercial vehicles.
Constable Michelle Simard says police investigate thousands of preventable collision involving commercial vehicles every year, making this a serious issue in the province.
Simard says officers will be patrolling the highways to ensure commercial vehicles are following the rules.
She says commercial vehicles are bigger and heaver so they require a little more maneuvering to stop.
Operation Safe Trucking runs until Friday.
