The game was tied at 4 with just over a minute left when Edmonton’s Kris Russell mistakenly shot the puck into his own net on a clearing attempt then Nazeem Kadri added an empty netter. Elsewhere Montreal doubled Detroit 6-3, Vancouver got past Nashville 5-3 and Calgary shut out Arizona 3-0.
(NFL) In the NFL Thursday nighter the Dallas Cowboys crushed the Washington Redskins 38-14. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes with no turnovers as Dallas improved to 6 and 6 on the season.
(Golf) Tiger Woods playing for the first time since his fourth back surgery 10-months, ago shot a 3-under 69 yesterday at the opening round of the Hero World Challenge. Woods is three shots behind leader Tommy Fleetwood, tied for eighth in the 18-man field of this holiday exhibition that awards world ranking points but does not count as official on any tour.
(MLB TV) Baseball commentator Gregg Zaun has been fired from Sportsnet due to “inappropriate behaviour and comments” toward female employees. Rick Brace, President of Rogers Media, said in a statement yesterday that the company was terminating the contract of the MLB studio analyst effective immediately. The former Toronto Blue Jays catcher played 16 major league seasons, including five years in Toronto and began a broadcasting career with Sportsnet following the 2006 season and continued working with the network until his termination.
