First Confirmed Influenza A Case Within The Cochrane District

The first influenza A case of the season has been identified in the Cochrane District.

The Porcupine Health Unit says the first case popped up in Timmins on Monday.

Public Health Nurse Stephanie Brunet-Guppy says with the first case being identified people can now expect more cases can to start showing up within the district.

Brunet-Guppy says they are encouraging anyone who is feeling sick to please stay home and rest.

She says you may feel as if you are healthy and unaffected, but you can still be a carrier of the infection.

Brunet-Guppy says the infection spreads easily and has noticeable symptoms attached with it such as a fever, sore throat, headaches, coughing and feeling worn out.

The influenza vaccines are still available at the PHU, local pharmacies and your local doctor’s office.
