(NHL)  William Nylander scored with 2 seconds left in overtime and Frederick Anderson notched his second shutout of the season as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the New Jersey Devils 1-0 last night. It’s the Leafs 5th straight win. Elsewhere The Pittsburgh Penguins spoiled Matt Duchene’s home debut as the Penguins beat the Sens 3-1, Arizona edged the Montreal Canadiens 5-4, Winnipeg needed the shoot out for a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia, St Louis thumped Edmonton 4-1 and the Vegas Golden Knights skated to a 5-2 win over Vancouver.

(NFL)  The Pittsburgh Steelers crushed the Tennessee Titans 40-17 in the NFL Thursday nighter.  Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns as the Steelers won for the 5th straight game.

(MLB)  Jose Altuve  won the American League MVP award yesterday, beating  New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge by a wide margin and Giancarlo Stanton won the NL MVP, edging Toronto-born Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds in the closest vote since 1979.
