Lakes are starting to freeze, but it may not be ready for ice fishing just yet.
The OPP says you need to make sure the ice is thick enough before you drive or walk on the ice. Constable Michelle Simard says the type of water, time of year and water depth will affect how the water freezes.
Simard says you also need to know the area you want to venture out on and be cautious.
The OPP says the ice depths on water can vary throughout a body of water.
