NOP Claim A Northern MNRF Will Better Serve Ontario

NOP claim MNRF is mismanaged and northerners deserve better.

That’s according to NOP Leader Trevor Holliday who in a press release Tuesday says Northern Ontarians have been forced to deal with lowered fishing limits and shortened hunting seasons because of false promises.

The MNRF decided to protect more moose populations this year by reducing the number of moose tags available back in April.

Holliday argues there are fewer hunters and fishermen than years past and yet still the moose population declines and fishing limits drop.

He is therefore demanding that the provincial government create a Northern MNRF to help bring a more comprehensive strategy to wildlife in Northern Ontario, including bringing in First Nations on the subject.

The MNRF have been under fire for cutting moose tags and lowering fishing limits despite being able to provide solid statistical proof of a decline for either species.
