With all the excitement of the recent finding of Franklin’s ship the HMS Erebus, there’s one thing that’s just under the wire. The Chief Underwater Archaeologist of Parks Canada is Marc-Andre Bernier, who was born and raised in Kapuskasing. In speaking with his sister Jocelyne this week, she said that the family was just as excited as he was at the find. The bonus is that he’s a local boy. It’s a remarkable find after more than 150 years of searching.
