As daylight savings time nears its end this weekend, it is a perfect time to check on your smoke detectors.

That is according to Kapuskasing Fire Chief Pat Kennedy who says the Fire Department encourages the community to change their smoke detector’s batteries as the clocks changeover this weekend.

Kennedy says you want to make sure that your smoke detector is working properly.

He says to check your smoke detector is a simple process, but a necessary one to make sure your home is safe.

Daylight savings time will come to an end at 2:00am on Sunday, November 5th, as the clocks will move back an hour over the weekend.
