NDP And Liberals Square Off Over College Strike

Talks resume today between college instructors and management to end a nearly three-week strike.   A mediator has both sides getting back together at the request of management.  Deputy Premier Deb Matthews says getting the faculty and management to resume bargaining is a top priority.  Although students are concerned about the length of the strike, Matthews says no college dispute in Ontario has ever resulted in students losing their year.  As talks resume, the NDP are blaming the Liberal government for the dispute.  Education critic Peggy Sattler said it all comes down to not enough money being put into the system.   However, Matthews says the reality is the Liberals have increased education funding.   She says per student funding has gone up from $4,600 to $6,600.
