College Boreal Amongst Those Preparing For Possibly Lengthy Strike

The Ontario College Strike has entered its third week, and the two sides are no closer than before to a deal.

That’s according to President of OPSEU Local 673 David Fascianco, who says the two sides agree the major issues are the number of part-time professors versus full-time, and teachers roles in shaping course structure.

Fasciano, representing faculty at College Boreal, says the most recent offer tabled by the employer council was not much, and the colleges claim OPSEU’s offer was much the same.

College Boreal President Daniel Giroux says at this point, a quick settlement seems unlikely, as no new talks are scheduled.

The professors union has now reached out to the provincial government in order to help get them back into the classroom.

The strike is in its 15th day.
