Science Olympics Gather Students From All Over Cochrane District

Students gathered from all over the Cochrane District this past week for an annual science competition.

The Annual Regional Science Olympics were held in Timmins last Thursday at Timmins High and Vocational School, students from Grades four through 12 from Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls, Cochrane, and Timmins were in attendance.

The town of Kapuskasing was represented by École Publique Le Coeur Du Nord, who were one of 26 schools participating in the event.

Organizer Lorraine Cantin says the event is competitive, but it is meant to be fun and allow students to apply science concepts learned in class to their challenges.

Cantin says the day-long competition brings together both elementary and secondary institutions from across the region.
