NE LHIN To Disperse Over 30 Beds To Major Centres In North

A provincial initiative to add 1,200 hospital beds across Ontario does not mean every clinic will be receiving one.

According to the Director of Hospital Sector at North East Local Health Integration Network Marc Demers, 31 beds have been given to the NE LHIN to delegate as they see fit.

Demers says there is a good chance a majority of, if not all 31 beds, will end up in larger centres outside of towns like Kapuskasing.

However, he says currently they are still reviewing the process of how to disperse the additional beds.

Monday a $140 million investment was announced to help with overcrowding in hospitals across the province, leading to 71 additional beds for the northeast region.
