Four Cochrane District EMS Workers Honoured

Four Emergency Medical Services workers have been honoured for their continued success.

Commander of Hearst and Kapuskasing for Cochrane EMS Frederic Potvin says at a ceremony on September 28th at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, paramedics Lina Fortier and Robert Keating from Kapuskasing, Luc Hurtibise from Timmins and himself were honoured for their years of hard work.

Potvin says all four received and Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal which recognizes those who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct and efficiency.

He says he has gotten to know both Fortier and Keating well over the years and has always taken notice of their terrific work ethic.

He says there is no higher honour to receive from the province for EMS workers than being recognized by the Governor General.

In order to obtain such an award, a recipient must have been employed with EMS on or after October 31st of 1991 and completed 20 years of service, including 10 years in the performance of duties involving potential risk.
