The District School Board Ontario North East has honoured an outgoing Trustee at their public meeting.
Wayne Major, who is resigning from his post as Board Representative for Hearst and Kapuskasing effective September 18th, was honoured at the DSB ONE public meeting this Tuesday.
Major says since his wife retired, they have chosen to move closer to family, which means they must leave the territory served by the board meaning he can’t retain his position as a trustee in the area.
Board Chair Doug Shearer says Major has been a valuable member of the board for a long time and will be missed.

Major, who was first elected in 2011, served 7 years of an 8-year term as Board Representative.
The board will now look to replace the position immediately.
