Tree Planting Celebration For Canada’s 150th In Val Rita-Harty

The air is going to get a little cleaner in Northern Ontario.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the municipality of Val Rita-Harty was a recipient of a grant from Tree Canada for a tree planting celebration.

The municipality was chosen as one of 150 planting celebrations taking place across the country this year.

A statement from the government of Canada states they chose the community in order to recognize and honour First Nations as the original inhabitants of the land now known as Val Rita-Harty.

Three different types of native trees will be planted at the celebration, one representing First nations, one representing Ontario and one for Canada.

The ceremony will take place at Val Rita Recreational Park on Deschenaux Street on September 7th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
