(CFL)  The Hamilton Tiger-Cats earned their first win of the season, a 24-22 victory over the Toronto Argonauts last night. In a game delayed for over 2 hours because of lightning, Hamilton managed just 261 net offensive yards and were a dismal 33 per cent in second-down conversions. Meanwhile out west the Calgary Stampeders ran to a 39-18 win over the Edmonton. Calgary is alone atop the CFL’s West Division as the Eskimos dropped into a tie for second with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 7-3.

(MLB)  The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 10-4 last night. Jay Happ allowed just one earned run in 5 and two third innings while Kendrys Morales, Jose Bautista, Justin Smoak and Raffy Lopez homered for the Jays.

(US Open)  Rafael Nadal has reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals, beating Alexandr Dolgopolov. The No. 1 seed is back into the quarters in Flushing Meadows for the first time since 2013, when he won his second of two U.S. Open titles. Meanwhile  Roger Federer beat Philipp Kohlschreiber and on the women’s side Karolina Pliskova eliminated Jennifer Brady
