NELHIN To Be First Site To Offer MAID Training

Funding and training are coming for North East LHIN doctors and practitioners in regards to medically assisted death.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care is going to provide an unannounced amount of funding from the Ontario government in order to train more doctors and nurses in the practice of Medical Assistance in Dying.

North East LHIN will be the first site to offer the training, which will be provided by the Canadian Medical Association and will include the law, technical aspects, managing of a family and social impacts.

With this training comes the ability for patients now in Northeastern Ontario to decide whether or not they wish to request MAID.

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Sudbury is where the training will take place beginning on September 29th.
