Ambulance services in Timmins will no longer provide non-emergency transfers from outside the city starting in October.
This is the final stage of the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board’s service deployment plan that has been rolling out over the past few years.
The hospital says starting September 30th, DSSAB will no longer be involved in out of town or long distance patient transfers.
It adds the only transfers local paramedics will do are within Timmins from 7:00am to 7:00pm when available, so patients will experience longer wait times for non-urgent matters.
The Timmins and District Hospital will be hiring a service from within the private sector for non-urgent transfers until the Local Health Integration Network implements a transfer system that will be stationed in Timmins, Kapuskasing, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and the Matheson area.
