Iroqouis Falls Man Faces Fishing Charges

An Iroquois Falls man is facing a total of 13 hundred dollars in fishing offenses.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says on June 3rd, conservation officers and a canine unit checked the man and another angler while fishing on Lake Abitibi.

The anglers only showed the officers three walleye while the canine unit found a cooler with 36 skinless walleye and sauger fillets, totaling 18 fish.

The man claimed ownership of 18 fillets and the other angler took responsibility for the rest.

The MNR says the man has pleaded guilty to having an over-limit supply of walleye and packaging the fish so the species can’t be easily identified, as well as a three-month license suspension.

The other angler is currently part of another investigation by the ministry.
