(CFL)  Bo Levi Mitchell threw three touchdown passes as the Calgary Stampeders crushed the Toronto Argonauts 41-24 last night.  Mitchell  finished 19-of-24, passing for 246 yards for Calgary who moved atop the West Division ahead of the Edmonton Eskimos who host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.

(Tennis)  At the Citi Open, third-seeded Milos Raonic, advanced to the quarter finals after beating Marcos Baghdatis Raonic will face Jack Sock in the next round. In the women’s draw, Mississauga’s Bianca Andreescu knocked off second-seeded Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals. While Eugenie Bouchard was eliminated by Andrea Petkovic.

(NHL)  Nashville Predators captain Mike Fisher announced his retirement from the NHL yesterday The Peterborough native scored 18 goals and added 24 assists over 72 games with the Preds last season.

(Golf)  Michelle Wie shot an 8-under 64 to take the early lead at the Women’s British Open. Wie had a one-shot lead over I.K. Kim. Canada’s Brooke Henderson finished her opening round 2-under, tied for 32nd.

(NFL)  The NFL season kicked off last night with the Hall of Fame Game. The Dallas Cowboys edged the Arizona Cardinals 20-18.
