NDP MPP Voices Concerns With Draft Strategy’s Lack Of Focus On Rail Transportation

An NDP MPP is voicing his concern with the 25-year draft strategy’s lack focus on rail transportation in the North.

With just over a month remaining before the window for feedback closes on the 25-year draft strategy for transportation in Northern Ontario, Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha has announced his disappointment with the current plan.

Mantha says a major missing piece is rail transportation, and what is to be done going forward, none of this he says was addressed.

He says the strategy doesn’t seem to be a reflection of what came from consultation between municipalities and the province, instead rather a bunch of empty promises.

The Liberal’s 25-year draft strategy is meant to address the challenges faced by the region across road, air, rail and marine travel while further improving, strengthening and building upon the current system.

Feedback on the draft strategy is being collected until September 15th here.
