(MLB)  The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1 yesterday.  J.A. Happ had a season-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings, gave up a run and six hits while walking one to get his first win since July 4. Steve Pearce and Josh Donaldson homered for the Jays who have today off before starting a series in Houston tomorrow.

(Tennis)  Milos Raonic advanced to the third round of the Citi Open yesterday with a win over France’s Nicolas Mahut. On the women’s side Eugenie Bouchard advanced to the second round with a  win over eighth seed Christina McHale.

(soccer)  After a 1-1 tie to end regulation Real Madrid beat the MLS All-Star’s 4-2, in a penalty shootout last night. The match marked the 13th consecutive year the MLS team faced a top international side and dropped their record to 7-6, with two of the losses coming on penalties.

(junior hockey)  Canada beat Finland 6-5 yesterday at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth, Michigan. Canada came back from 4-2 deficit to take the lead only to see the Finns tie it up with the goalie pulled. Canada’s next game isFriday against Sweden
