The window of time for maintaining and keeping the livelihood of Northern Ontario afloat is closing.

That is according to Kapuskasing Mayor and FONOM President Alan Spacek, who says that was the focus of the conference call Monday which included the three Ontario municipal associations FONOM, NOMA and ROMA and focused on the SAR guide.

Spacek says the associations agree the Species at Risk guide is only going to be detrimental to the overall well-being of their communities.

He says currently the provincial government is preparing their final intentions for the SAR and up to this point they have yet to hear back regarding their concerns.

The Ontario government is planning to announce the finalized guide in the coming months, something Spacek says he is hopeful will not happen without some resolutions made to the guide first.
