The MPP for Timiskaming-Cochrane believes the province stands to lose a lot of money as OLG continues to privatize its gaming monopoly.
John Vanthof says under privatization, the Premier’s plan gives away a guaranteed minimum of $72-million a year. In addition, OLG would also surrender as much as 70 percent of all gambling revenue. He says that’s going to be a lot of money headed into the bank
Vanthof says that’s going to be a lot of money headed into the bank accounts of private corporations instead of staying with the government. He says this means if the province has less revenue coming in, there’s less money for hospitals and education.
