SPORTS SCORES – THURSDAY

(MLB)  The Oakland Athletics had shut the Blue Jays out for 8 innings last night and had a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. That’s when Justin Smoak tied the game with a two-run homer, and Kendrys Morales followed with a solo shot as the Jays rallied for a 3-2 walkoff win over Oakland. It was the sixth time this season the Blue Jays had hit back-to-back homers. They can sweep the four-game series with a win this afternoon.

(Soccer)  The United States beat Jamaica 2-1 last night for its sixth CONCACAF Gold Cup title and first since 2013. U.S. captain Michael Bradley earned the Golden Ball as the tournament’s top player.

(Golf)  The first round of the Canadian Open gets underway this morning at Glen Abbey. World No. 1 Dustin Johnson is the favourite, but there are 17 Canadians in the field who are vying to be the first Canadian to win the tournament since Pat Fletcher did it back in 1954.
